Release: 8.5.2
Reproducible: Not attempted

Hey all,

We are planning our Domino/Notes 6.5 -> 8.5.2 upgrade. In a perfect environment we would just upgrade our Domino server and away we go. The problem is, our Domino server is on its last legs, the data folder is a mess, the notes.ini is a mess and we would like to virtualize the server. Ideally we would like to deploy a fresh install of Domino 8.5.2 and connect our clients to this server.

Order to our upgrade:
1) Upgrade our Notes clients to 8.5 and connect them to our current 6.5 server.
Probably with the Smart Upgrade Kit or Startup Script (not looked into yet)

2) Join a fresh 8.5.2 Domino server to our Domino domain.

3) Point our clients to the new Domino 8.5.2 server, upgrade mailboxes etc.

Would this upgrade order work? If this is good approach, how would we point the 8.5 clients to the new 8.5.2 Domino sever?

Thanks
